Florida Traveling Knows No Bounds

Basic Biz During Hurricane Season

Even residents need an update or two whenever the state enters the infamous hurricane season, which runs from June 1 to November 30, 2025. While many residents are knowledgeable about the basics and know the precautions to take, visitors who have never experienced a storm need helpful tips to ensure they can ride out the storm.

With this in mind, vacationers venturing to our sunny coastlines, check this list of things you will need to do and have in case of an emergency. While this is a lengthy list, be sure to check with the official hurricane guidelines so you have all the information you need.

  • If you are made aware of authorities announcing a mandatory evacuation, this means you. Wherever you are staying (hotel, motel, resort, B&B, Airbnb, private home, RV camp, etc., an evacuation mandate is serious. Unfortunately, many people ignore the evacuation and end up in dangerous situations. The authorities will be the first to tell you that at some point of imminent landfall, there will be no rescue groups sent out because they will be putting their lives in jeopardy. Know where the evacuation location is for the area where you are staying, how to get there, and what items you can take. If traveling with pets, know which evacuation shelter allows pets, and be sure to bring along the items they need (food, bedding, water, water bowl, leash, and pet carrier).
  • Leave a copy of your itinerary with a friend or family member.
